Day 5: Melide to Arzua

Arzua – 14km – Hotel Arzua - Hotel Duerming

Camino trail continues downhill, passing the village of Casanova and the delightful village of Leboreiro.  The Camino brings you to the village of Boente and the church of Santiago. Next is the pretty medieval hamlet of Ribadiso and finally the town of Arzúa (389m), famous for its local cheese. In Arzúa, you will visit the churches of Santa María and A Magdalena.

Our 4th day on the Camino. We started our day in Melide at a beautiful old church on a hill overlooking the countryside - while the sun was coming up!

The weather was chilly, but most of us were shedding layers within the first hour, as we had a couple of challenging hills this morning! The Camino path led us through some beautiful but hilly countryside. However, our distance again today was shorter-our knees and toes were greatful!

We stopped for drinks and snacks before reaching Arzua. As we approached the city, we had to cross over a bridge where we saw other walkers taking off their shoes and socks to dip their legs and feet into the refreshing creek water-we didn’t have any takers in our group! ( we were hungry!)

We had a great lunch at our destination city of Arzua, and then to our hotel by 3:30.

Thanks to our super duper guide Manuel, and our fearless Chaplain Steve, we had another amazing day on the Camino.

Our quiet time today was to reflect on the “thin veil” - y’all work on that!
