Day 9 - Descend to Mweka Gate

UPDATE FROM OUR TEAM

Today was a day! Ole mother Kili didn’t let us out without one last punch as we hiked ~8 miles through the slippery muddy rainforest. Against all the questioning if we would ever get out of the forest, we still crossed Mweka Gate with smiles, hugs, and of course a few blisters! After a delicious last meal by our mountain cooks, we made the 2 hour drive back to the Mount Meru Hotel to be greeted with warms showers and actual beds.

MOUNTAIN ROUTE OVERVIEW

Our climbers are waking up to their last day on the mountain. They’ll have their last breakfast in the mess tent and then start their trek. They’ll descend through the rainforest past towering trees and lush ferns to a hot lunch at Mweka Gate – where they’ll end their adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro.
