Day 10 - Final Day in Arusha

UPDATE FROM OUR TEAM

Today was welcomed with time to sleep in and enjoy the amazing spread of the breakfast buffet at Mount Meru. After breakfast we made our way out to explore Arusha and do some souvenir shopping. We first stopped by the Burka Coffee Estates to learn about the expansive coffee making business and even got to do a taste testing! Afterward we visited the Cultural Heritage Center to do some souvenir shopping and walked away with more than we intended in the best way!

At lunch, we started talking about how some of the really special experiences in life leave a “heart stamp” in the way that they transform  something in you beyond the photos, stories, and souvenirs. We went around the table and shared these “stamps” about what the mountain taught us about ourselves, the world around us, and how we want to “walk differently” as we return home to our jobs, families and communities were apart of.

After lunch, we had some time at the hotel for the spa and packing before heading to the Arusha Coffee Lodge for our celebration dinner! Our beloved mountain guides joined us and we did an “officially unofficial” presentation of the successful summited Mt. Kilimanjaro certificates! We honored each person by going around the table and speaking words into that person that we each saw in them that week. For 7 people that were mere strangers a week ago, it felt special to be able to see and know the deeper things in one another and I’m hopeful these are words that will be carried back home with each of us!
