Day 1: The Journey Begins in Tanzania

Today marks the beginning of an incredible journey! Almost all of our travelers have arrived in Arusha, Tanzania. Similar to Mount Kilimanjaro, which comprises of three volcano cones, Mount Meru is also a dormant volcano and stands at 14,968 ft. Let’s hope our climbers have good weather on Mount Kilimanjaro because on a clear day, you can see Mount Meru from Mount Kilimanjaro which is 43 miles west!

Hello from Tanzania (Reb, Trip Host here!) - the adventure has begun! 

Today was all about getting the group here and settled in from the multi-day travels to begin gearing up for the Trek. Coming from both East and West Coasts and the Mountain West - we did it! Most of us arrived late at night so have yet to take in the expanse of African landscape. 

Tomorrow will bring more time to acclimate, rest, and prepare for the 7 day trek with our trip welcome & orientation, gear checks, and getting to know one another more. Anticipation is building! 

In exciting Beyond news… we sent off another group to start the trek this morning and look forward to both groups overlapping at the hotel on the other side! Pictured here are both Trip hosts and Chris (middle, our local guide and everything guru).
