Day 3: Kathmandu, Nepal

Final rest day before the beginning of the trek! Our climbers will send some time having their gear check and prepping for an early wake up call before their private helicopter ride. Follow along for trek updates as they go!

It was another wild day in Kathmandu! We started the day with our guide, Ramesh, by going to the monkey temple (there’s a more official name I don’t remember). I felt a little uneasy by the warning not to look any monkeys in the eye…but everyone at home can rest easy, we came away with no incidents to report. We were lucky enough to get there in time to see a ceremony of a large group of Buddhist monks on their pilgrimage from Thailand. Next, we headed to another temple/the market square surrounding it. Here, we had the chance to visit a Tibetan painting school and learn all about the art of the Mandala. It was amazing! Lastly, we saw a traditional Hindu cremation site along the river. To say that we witnessed and learned a lot about another culture today is an understatement! We were thankful to have some time to rest and finish packing this afternoon then close the day sharing a meal with the local Young Life Area Director! We’re ready and excited to hit the trail tomorrow!
