Day 2: Young Life Arusha Camp
Hey y’all, we’re off! The first full day has passed and we’ve all been blessed with good friends old and new. We traveled to the Peace House School just outside of town this morning to sit in on a young life camp going on right now. The excitement of the kids and the joy the felt was clearly visible despite not understanding everything they sang or said. After their gathering, we got the chance to meet many of the campers and share stories before leaving for lunch. The following hours were filled with introductions to some of our guides and gear checks for the imminent climb.
Our group met again for dinner, a chance to enjoy each other’s company and our last large meal. It was a great chance to set the tone for the next 7 days and invite each other to challenge the man next to him and lift him up to greater heights. As I think about the climb ahead of us and the words we shared over our meal I’m reminded of of Jeremiah 29:11. I think I speak for the entire group when I say there’s something special about the group assembled for this journey. And in closing, I look to Judges 6:23 for comfort.
