Day 10: Final Day in Arusha

Reflections

“A Time To Reflect”

It is now the day after an arduous journey full of so many feelings and I now sit down taking the time to process and let it all sink in, and these are some of the things that hit me.

The experience as a whole gave me a different perspective on not only myself but the world around me. I got to find a different kind of humility steming from the fact that I could not do it alone, when I found the hours long yet had to keep going I would find peace and the will to keep walking in the people around me who kept on going while experiencing the same ,sharing smiles and conversations that held genuine love . And  then when we were tired the guides would share their strength with us in song and encouragement that we were doing great and to keep it up.

I got to see a beautiful kind of leadership in watching the Porters as they carried much more than we could with a smile on their faces showing the essence of servant leadership and humbling me to do more and be better for those around me.

Finaly above all I found more time to spend praying worshiping  as well as appreciating what the Lord has done for me and shown me on the mountain and in the valley, appreciating the power to take each step ,the health he has given me, the time of introspection and the group of people whom He surrounded me with . I found each person had some wisdom or aspect to share that I appreciated and made the journey all the more special.

Drew ever busy ensuring everything ran smoothly and directing each aspect to the one best suited .

Nina was always running ahead and taking videos and pictures helping organize and answering questions with such diligence.

Tim always with an interesting perspective and energy that would provoke thought.

Mark with words of wisdom that would just hit you when you least expected it.

Erin with such a kind and can do disposition  always with a  ready smile.

Chris honest when feeling weak yet showing strength to push through it.

Chad my roommate giving such a joyous presence and quick to encourage even as others shared .

Seth a ball of energy that would fill those around him when empty.

Jonah an ever steady presence calm and collected to walk beside .

Marcy  showing such care and love for family and being a homely regardless of how she may be feeling .

Mary such a fount of knowledge and kindness and a soldier through and through in how she went on .

Kallie so friendly ,open and a good listener who exuded goodness.

John giving the feeling of a tall friendly giant who loves his family and makes memories that will last a lifetime while letting that feeling spill over to all around.

Ella young yet showing determination and grit that could put other adults to shame.

Rodney sharing his life in a way that opened eyes and was incarnational.

These are but small glimpses into the whole that showed me the joy community and family. Every single one of them was brave, loving and supportive to mention but a bit  and I am permanently impacted by their presence during this journey and how that impact will echo out even to others….. Changed for the better…
