Day 1: Arusha, Tanzania
Today marks the beginning of an incredible journey! Everyone has arrived safely at Mount Meru Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania. Similar to Mount Kilimanjaro, which comprises of three volcano cones, Mount Meru is also a dormant volcano and stands at 14,968 ft. Let’s hope our climbers have good weather on Mount Kilimanjaro because on a clear day, you can see Mount Meru from Mount Kilimanjaro which is 43 miles west! Keep an eye on this trip journal! We’ll be posting everyday from now until the end of the trip!

And so, the adventure begins. Our whole crew is finally in country. Most of us have never seen Africa and we are pumped for what lies ahead. Long flights sandwiched around a nice layover gave us plenty of opportunity to rest and reflect as we prepare embark on this life hanging adventure.
The last of our team arrived late last night and we commenced to stay up late like college kids eating burgers whilst getting to know one another and our new YL Africa friends. After sleeping in this morning and enjoying a scrumptious breakfast here at Mount Meru Hotel, Nagu one of the local YL staff is gonna show us his town. None of us from states has any idea what the Lord has in store for us over the next 12 days. However, we are buckling in for an amazing ride.
