Day 11: Helicopter to Kathmandu
Day 9 of EBC Trek
Hello, friends and family! We made it from the Himalayas back to Kathmandu and have a rest day here tomorrow before flying back to the States. This will be the last blog post that you hear from us, but we’re back in the land of consistent WiFi access so reach out to your EBC trekkers to hear the highs/lows!
Daily Gratitude:
There is SO much to be grateful for as we think retrospectively about our EBC trek. I am extremely grateful we made it back to Kathmandu without injuries, illness, etc. This is a huge blessing for our group! Tonight at dinner we also discussed the following “daily gratitudes”:
⁃ Lalit helping us navigate the helicopter transport. He brings calm and expertise to all situations!
⁃ Hot showers (now that we’re back at the Yak and Yeti hotel).
⁃ We overcome our suspension bridge and helicopter rides fear!
⁃ Mike was grateful for the fellow Kala Patthar hikers who offered him a Coca-Cola at the top.
Daily Highlights:
⁃ Some of us summited Kala Patthar, which, according to Wikipedia, is considered the highest altitude most will reach without a climbing permit (obtained in Kathmandu, at the Nepal Mountaineering Association). Mike’s watch said we were at ~18,500 feet!
Daily Reflections:
When we arrived in Lukla we saw a number of other trekkers who were just starting out on their EBC journey. It was near to reflect on how far we’ve come!
Thank you for following along with our Beyond Adventure in Nepal! And for your support along the way. We are grateful for our friends/family back home!
