Day 2: Kathmandu, Nepal

Final rest day before the beginning of the trek! Our climbers will explore Kathmandu and spend some time having their gear check and prepping for an early wake up call before their private helicopter ride. Follow along for trek updates as they go!

Today the group enjoyed their first full day in Nepal. We enjoyed breakfast as a team before heading out with a guide to tour several temples in Kathmandu. The first Temple the group visiting was the Monkey Temple; a Buddhist temple built in the 5th Century. The temple was built out of limestone and had monkeys roaming around. It was an amazing opportunity to learn about Buddhist culture and one of the oldest Buddhist temples in the world.

The next temple the group visited was a Hindu temple. We were able to walk around the temple and observe ceremonies taking place outside. The temple was built directly next to the Bagmati River; a holy river in Hinduism.

The final temple the group visited was a Buddhist temple. The temple was similar in construction to the first temple; minus all the monkeys. We also got to see the inside of two Tibetan monasteries and an art school where traditional paintings are created.

The group finished the day by touring the city markets. We got to see some local trek shops and some traditional Nepalese markets. The trek begins tomorrow!
