Day 9: Dingboche
Today we woke up in the town of Dingboche at 14,300 feet. We had an acclimation hike on the agenda as well as an opportunity to get some extra rest before we move on to the town of Lobuche tomorrow. Our hike was tough but afforded some of the best views of the trip so far, particularly of the 22,300 foot mountain, Ama Dablam which I think is my favorite mountain on earth. It’s incredible. I had the opportunity to summit the peak our group hiked up today which felt particularly special since I couldn’t make it to the top last time I was here. I loved having extra time with one of our guides, Dolam. When we got back to our lodge we ate lunch and rested then went to a French cafe to watch a film called Meru which featured Conrad Anker who we were fortunate to meet at the helipad right before we departed to the Khumbu. Now we’re hanging out in the common room next to a fire enjoying lemon ginger tea and catching up about our time together. I’m so grateful to be here with this group. It’s wild to think we only have 2 more days before we reach our final destination of Everest Base Camp!!
