Day 2: Sarria to Portomarin
Portomarin – 22km (14 mi) – Hotel Ferramenteiro
Breakfast at the hotel - Walk through clam, pretty villages and peaceful hamlets under the shade of oak trees and along quiet country roads. Along the way, you will spot many Galician traditional ‘hórreos’ (granaries).
Song created by Ellie Haddad - LINK
In Sarria town we took our start,
With eager feet and open heart.
A passport stamp before one stride?
We felt official, full of pride.
Then John spoke wise with pilgrim flair:
“Make room for God… and boredom there.”
He called us rebels brave and free—
Though why exactly? Mystery.
We started walking, calm and still,
Through misty paths and Spanish hill.
Till silence faded somewhere fast…
When David found a party blast.
He danced with strangers, laughed all day,
As if he’d known them anyway.
While somewhere north (or maybe France?)
John and Ellie missed their chance.
They wandered off with cheerful pace,
Quite certain they were winning grace.
But Chandler saved them just in time
Before they crossed another line.
Ann marched onward, strong and steady,
Like mountain goats are born trail-ready.
We gasped and wondered in surprise
If hidden rockets fueled her thighs.
And Brian, brave through aching feet,
Pressed onward down each dusty street.
But fear not friends—we came prepared,
Our rehab crew already cared.
For doctors, PTs, OTs too,
Can tape and stretch and fix your shoe.
If blisters rise or knees complain,
This group can heal you back again.
So here we are on holy track,
With dusty shoes and shells on back.
Nineteen souls from near and far—
Not sure yet where we’ll end… but here we are.
